US State Releases Draft Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR)
It is reported that the State Department has provided a draft of the QDDR to the U.S. Congress on Nov. 17. The Washington Post, according to Josh Rogin of “The Cable” blog has obtained a copy. The QDDR began 14 months ago under the direction of the State Department to take stock of U.S. foreign assistance and outline reforms meant to streamline and strengthen the department and USAID’s operations. It underscores the need to build the U.S. Agency for International Development as the “world’s premier development agency,” improve interagency collaboration, achieve “high impact” development results and target conflict prevention.
An analysis and summary of the draft document has been prepared by Devex and provides an quick overview to the recommendations (here).
